If they are intentionally mooching, then perhaps offering things they care for. If they are meat and potatoes type of people and think that baked potato chips are "health food", offer them real food– i.e., something with tofu, beans, veggies that are not spoiled with ranch dressing and other stuff. (I have some great recipe sites or you could just search "vegan cooking" "vegan recipes", etc. Actually, if you just want to try something different, I still suggest it.)
My grandfather once told a story about a friend of his who had this problem. I guess an acquaintance of my friend conveniently showed up at dinner time on a regular basis. Finally, my grandfather said his friend let his dog lick the plates after dinner and they put them back int he cupboard. The moocher apparently never returned.
Even if bar-be-quing MY food in MY backyard, I would not offer them any. I would chat with them while I was outside and then when the food was done, bid them good evening and go indoors for dinner.

If your dog eats grass then you should follow the dog around and watch it. It should most likely find a spot to throw up. They do this if they have eaten something that upsets their stomach. Like chocolate, or other man-food not supposed to eat.
